A must go for cat lovers! It is just off the beaten path of Todaiji in a quiet neighbourhood. The owner has such an extensive collection of cat statuettes, paintings and literature! The statuettes were collected from around the world, and while they can come in many forms (glass, glazed porcelain, unglazed, realistic and cartoonish) there’s a parallel in the cat behaviours expressed. There’s an obvious love and respect for cats here beyond the superficial.

This is a lovely little museum in Nara dedicated to cats. The owner is very passionate and earnest in her love for cats, and she was excited to share her collection with fellow cat-lovers. Her Feline Director is very friendly and we got to play with him while looking through the museum! At the end, we signed a guestbook and the owner gave us some cat-themed chocolates and very cute cat keychains.
