The station is next to Shin-Yokohama Station, and It's a transfer station between the JR Yokohama Line and the Toyoko Line. Shin-Yokohama Station is a stop for the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train, and Shin-Yokohama Station is also the closest station to Nissan Stadium, where sporting and concert events are held, making it an important station for those customers who use the Toyoko Line. Despite this, this station is not very user-friendly. First of all, the transfer point between the JR Yokohama Line and the Toyoko Line is located at the end of each line. Passengers boarding at the opposite end of the line are forced to walk the length of the platform. In addition, the platforms on both lines are narrow. Especially during concert events, the platforms are crowded with people, making it almost impossible to move. If you have a ticket for the Shinkansen at such times, you'll often miss your train. Passengers using the Shinkansen from Shin-Yokohama Station, in particular, will need to check in advance to see if there is an event taking place at Nissan Stadium on the day of boarding. When people living in the Yokohama, Fujisawa, and Kamakura areas use the Shinkansen, they will naturally use Shin-Yokohama Station as their departure and arrival point, but it's not recommended that they use Kikuna Station as a transfer point for this purpose. Alternatively, it is strongly recommended to use the station with enough time to spare.
