（原文） When I was in the U.S. Marines and stationed on the Japanese island of Okinawa back in 1980-1981, I was stationed at a Marine Corps unit of the 3rd RECON Battalion at "Onna Point" which was our tiny base between the Kotonoha restaurant and the east shoreline---about 15 miles or so north of Kadena Air Force Base, but has long since been relocated up at Camp Schwab and our tiny base at Onna Point had been torn down as I see on Google Earth is all barren fields now.. At that time I think the name of that particular restaurant was called "Hwy 58 Cafe". It was where many of the Marines from our base/camp at RECON would go for REAL Okinawan/Japanese food...mainly for Mamasan's Yakisoba....either with Beef or Squid. It was a form of what you would call "Japanese Spaghetti" and Mama-san made the best I had ever had during my one year assignment on Okinawa. At that time, Michiko was only about age 19 and she helped Mama-san (her mother) in that restaurant all the time. Our little base at Onna Point was only about 1/4 of a mile away and we would always cut thru the sugarcane fields on 2-track paths that zig-zagged thru those fields to get to Mama-san's cafe restaurant . Many of those Marines would go to eat there and have a few "Oriion" Beers on the weekends and even during the weekdays. Papa-san, Mama-san and Michiko were always super kind towards anyone who walked thru their doors and they treated us all very well...like the best of friends. They even came to our Christmas ceremony on our base at Onna Point in 1980. If any of you Americans are visiting or stationed on Okinawa...then the little town of Onna on Highway 58 is worth the trip for super delicious authentic Okinawan food....and Michiko, if you are reading this, I pray you and your family are doing well and I remember when you would sing the song "500 Miles" during the karaoke moments in your Mom's restaurant----do you remember??? I think I remember another girl that worked there by the name of "Yazko" also. I have been praying for you all periodically over the many long years. Keep your eyes on the Lord and thank you again for all your kindness---you were warm/ kind souls and I have great memories while I was there---your humble little restaurant was a great escape for me during the weekdays and weekends. I was age 21-22 during that time and now I am age 64 and I always remember how much I enjoyed the food and warm kindness from everyone who worked at your family's restaurant.
