(原文) A quick (initial) visit was made today so, another look and edit to this review will be coming soon. Tucked away behind a famous statue and close to the town office, this gem has avoided me for years. For some reason, I expected to see a museum primarily covering emigration of Okinawans to Hawaii. Remembering, that island wasn't part of the USA at the time of Toyama's advice to move from this island. Pre-WWII is the timeframe we're talking about. Outside the building I learned, it had been constructed in 1935. It happens to be one of the few concrete buildings built, which survived the horrors of the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. Once inside the museum (free) multi-language displays show Okinawans emigrated to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Hawaii, Peru, the Philippines and, the USA. Today's visit was quick and only an iPhone camera was used, as I was in a hurry. My next trip, will be with better photographic equipment and a much more detailed review (with photos) will follow.
